How eBay fees affect your price

On eBay, what you keep from each sale is the selling price minus your product cost, packaging, the final value fee, the per-order fee and any advertising. Because the final value fee and ad rate are percentages of the total sale amount, raising the price also raises those fees, which is why the right price comes from a formula instead of a simple markup.

Selling price = fixed costs รท (1 โˆ’ final value fee % โˆ’ ad rate % โˆ’ target net margin %). With $11.40 in fixed costs (product $10, packaging $1, per-order fee $0.40), a 13.6% final value fee and a 20% target margin, the price is $11.40 รท 0.664 โ‰ˆ $17.17. Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate eBay fees?

Add your product cost, packaging and the fixed per-order fee as fixed costs. Then add the final value fee percentage and any Promoted Listings ad rate as percentage costs. The calculator returns the price that leaves your target net margin.

What fees does eBay charge sellers?

eBay charges a final value fee, which is a percentage of the total sale amount in most categories plus a fixed per-order fee, and may charge insertion fees after your free monthly listings. Optional Promoted Listings, international and other fees can add more. Check eBay's official fee page for the current amounts for your category.

What is the eBay final value fee?

It is a percentage of the total amount of the sale that eBay charges when an item sells, and it varies by category. Enter the rate shown on eBay's current fee page as a percentage cost that comes out of your price.

Are Promoted Listings fees included?

Promoted Listings fees only apply when a sale comes through a promoted listing, at the ad rate you choose. The calculator starts at 0%; set it to your ad rate if you want to include it.

Why does the calculator say no price can work?

The percentage costs that come out of the price plus your target net margin must stay below 100 percent. Lower the margin target or the ad spend percentage.
