How Etsy fees affect your price

On Etsy, what you keep from each sale is the selling price minus your product cost, packaging, the listing fee, the transaction fee, payment processing and any advertising. Because the transaction fee, the processing percentage and ad spend are percentages of the price, raising the price also raises those fees, which is why the right price comes from a formula instead of a simple markup.

The main Etsy seller costs

The formula

Selling price = fixed costs รท (1 โˆ’ transaction fee % โˆ’ processing % โˆ’ ad spend % โˆ’ target net margin %). With $11.45 in fixed costs, a 6.5% transaction fee, 3% processing and a 20% target margin, the price is $11.45 รท 0.705 โ‰ˆ $16.24. Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate Etsy fees?

Add your product cost, packaging and shipping supplies, the listing fee and the fixed part of payment processing as fixed costs. Then add the transaction fee, the payment processing percentage and any ad spend as percentage costs. The calculator returns the price that leaves your target net margin.

What fees does Etsy charge sellers?

Etsy charges a listing fee per listing, a transaction fee on the item price (and, depending on the setup, on shipping), and a payment processing fee that combines a percentage and a fixed amount per sale. Optional Offsite Ads, Etsy Ads and currency conversion can add more. Check Etsy's official fee page for the current amounts in your country.

What is the Etsy transaction fee?

It is a percentage of the sale price that Etsy charges when an item sells. Enter the rate shown on Etsy's current fee page as a percentage cost that comes out of your price.

Are Etsy Offsite Ads fees included?

Offsite Ads fees only apply when an order comes from an Etsy-run ad, and the rate depends on your shop's sales. The calculator starts at 0%; set it to the rate that applies to your shop if you want to include it.

Why does the calculator say no price can work?

The percentage costs that come out of the price plus your target net margin must stay below 100 percent. Lower the margin target or the ad spend percentage.
